Oh my gosh. Guys, take pictures. Always take before and after pictures. I’ve been really discouraged recently because I’ve “only” lost ten pounds. And this morning, I decided to take a progress pictures. I really didn’t realize how different I look. (this is more of a before/during)
ed. a picture of me has 72 notes *hyperventilating*
I am a female, if I start lifting weights will I get huge?
Maybe, if you take heaping amounts of steroids, eat 8,000 calories a day, and proceed to lift for at least 5 years. Otherwise, no. Weightlifting will not make the average woman bulky. You may however find yourself with a nicer butt, shapelier legs, less body fat, a higher metabolism, strength, confidence, and a positive outlook. Proceed with caution. Don’t believe us? How many of your skinny male friends do you think have tried to get muscled up? And how successful were they? Do you think they — motivated as they were — would fail while trying extremely hard, while you would accidentally succeed? No, that would not occur. This is because it is dedicated, long term effort to become muscularly huge.
Also look at this article for information on how women should train. The Female Fitness Bible is also a good read.
This blog is full of examples of women who lift weights and aren’t huge. This video shows you a female olympic weightlifter. As you can see, she doesn’t appear ‘bulky’, but is still extremely strong.

15 CALORIE Frozen Whipped Cream Bites!
If you LOVE ice cream like I do, you will absolutely love these 15 calorie treats.
A cup of ice cream can have over 330 calories, while the whole can of whipped cream has about 290!
- Buy lightly sweetened whipped cream in a can (look at the ingredients to see if it’s truly just cream)
- Make little swirls on a baking sheet, and pop in the freezer for at least 2 hours.
- I piped these into cupcake papers which made them take up less space.
- Every time you get an ice cream craving pop one of these in your mouth!
Different Kinds of Grains ›
This is just a little something something that I found on different kinds of grains that you may see in your cabinets and in the grocery isles. It’s good to know what they mean for you and your health so read up!
(via lisaproject)
Left: 2009, 108 lbs. Right: Today, 130 lbs. I think the fact that I don’t look much bigger with 22 extra pounds is a testament to the value of muscle mass.
Amazing! Really puts it in perspective…
holy damn.
Awesome example of how the number on the scale can be deceiving. You look amazing with that extra muscle!
Water is important for almost all bodily functions and it is great for helping keep hunger in check. It should be the only beverage you are drinking. Anything with artificial flavors does not count as water. The only exception to this is herbal teas.

How I Grocery Shop
This is my master grocery list, which means that I always have these in my pantry/fridge. I have this list saved in my phone as a note, so that when I’m in the grocery store I run through it to check if I have it all at home.
I usually buy my berries & seasonal produce at local farmer’s markets, they’re always fresher & sometimes cheaper. Also, I don’t really eat bread/grains/cereal unless it’s really good or I have no other option… I just don’t like it!
What I buy all depends on season too. See seasonal chart here.
Tips:
- Always go with a list!
- Shop the perimeter! This typically contains the produce, dairy, meat, deli, and frozen section.
- Inside the “perimeter” you are more likely to stray: the candy aisle, the juice/drinks aisle, and the snacks aisle are all bad places to buy the majority of your groceries
- Look for what is on sale & stock up if it’s non-perishable
- When choosing packaged produce, look at the “Use by” date and choose the longest.
- Check all fruits & veggies for bruises, scratches, & mold. Yuck!
- Buy frozen petite peas, berries (for smoothies or baking), and bell peppers. They’re always cheaper & there isn’t much difference.
- Try to not over-buy, know how long each fruit/veggie will last & don’t waste it!
- Because produce goes off so quickly I go grocery shopping 2+ times a week. This is usually what it takes to maintain a healthy lifestyle!
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask!
FROZEN DINNERS!
I know a lot of weight loss advice says to stay away from frozen dinners but I would like to introduce you to the exception: Organic Bistro.
They use all organic meats, veggies, & grains and are all natural! I’ve been living off of these for a week (I have no kitchen) and I am obsessed. My favorite ones are the “Thai Style Yellow Curry & Chicken” and the “Sirloin Tips in Mushroom Sauce.” These are all around 280-400+ calories, and for only $5-6 each depending on which meal you get. I found mine at Whole Foods but I’m sure they are available somewhere near you!
I am highlighting this brand because there are no excuses for not eating healthy. “Not enough time” and “my parents shop for me” won’t cut it here!
Keep a stash of these in your freezer for when:
- You’re too lazy to go to the store
- Someone in your family/house orders pizza
- You live in a dorm
- Your schedule is too busy
These taste amazing and are really good for you! These will certainly help with weight loss. There may be other brands out there, but as for complete meals these are the best I’ve come across!
Improve your lifestyle one step at a time! :) For more tips go to http://sweatsalty.tumblr.com
