healthyjourneytogetfit asked: Just read your anon question/answer and I was wondering, what do you eat/drink pre- and post workout. I don't use protein powder either, because I simply don't have the money to buy it, but I'm never quite sure what to eat before or after a workout. I usually end up eating a banana or peanut butter sandwich. :)

It’s recommended that you eat carbs pre-workout (20-30 mins before) and carbs and protein after (within ~20 mins). The basic reasoning behind the pre is that you need quick energy sources to run, move, jump etc and post is that after you’ve exercised and hopefully torn up the muscle, the protein’s amino acids will help you rebuild bigger muscles!

I tend to workout sometime after dinner or breakfast so I don’t need to eat the extra pre-workout, but bananas sound perfect! Same with any fruit or small amount of pasta/sandwich.

And post-workout I usually have greek yogurt!
