bee-wuud asked: So I absolutely hate fruit and yogurt. I've tried a whole variety of fruits (oranges, watermelon, kiwi, grapes, apples), and I don't like any of it. And I think I don't like yogurt because I don't like it's texture, if that makes any sense to you. Now I LOVE vegetables and salad. What else can I eat to sub for fruits and get more protein in my diet?

Not to sound mean, but obviously meat? I love eggs, egg whites, and egg beaters to get my protein!

Unless you’re vegetarian? Then, that would mean

  1. Quinoa and other whole grains
  2. Beans, lentils, legumes
  3. Tofu (and other soy products)
  4. Nuts, nut butters (watch out because these are really calorie dense)
  5. Or protein supplements, meat substitutes etc

As far as yogurt goes, I wouldn’t give up on it! I’m not sure if you’re talking about Greek yogurt or regular yogurt, but try both. If you don’t like regular 0% fat Greek yogurt, add a teeeeny bit of cream - I love it!

For fruit, I’d keep trying. Fruit is designed for humans and other animals to like it! Kind of off-topic, but think about it: the plants need to distribute their seeds far and wide, so they create attractive flowers for bees to pollinate, which turns into fruit that animals eat. The animals eat it then walk a long distance, then deposit the seeds. Through this process plants have to make sure animals like their fruit!

Go to a local farmer’s market, and try all of their fruit. Google what fruit is in season and try that. It’s truly an amazing source of vitamins and minerals that shouldn’t be completely cut out of your diet!
