okay so i've been having this discussion with one of my guy friends over how many rest days you need per week. i'm doing insanity according to the plan and additional strength training so I basically have one rest day per week and he says that that's not enough but he's on a completely different level than me. he's a triathlete and so i guess it makes sense that has more rest days in between than i have but he doesn't seem to get it and it kid of annoys me so I wanted to ask how you see it?

Rest days are totally up to you!! He’s a different person than you with a completely different workout routine! My boyfriend does 3 days on, one day off and I have rest days on the weekend. It’s totally up to you and your body!

To my other followers, when do you take rest days? And how often?

Hi first of all i would just like to thank you soooo much for putting up these workout links! secondly, I'm currently doing insanity and i was just wondering if i added the Jillian Michaels 6 week 6 pack in would it be too much?like would it damage my muscles or something?

It depends where you are at physically… Have you been working out? I think alternating insanity one day and Jillian michaels another day would be fine… Two in one day is unsustainable (you’re going to give up quickly). If not, let me know how it goes with doing them both!

These are some exercises for your legs in general, and some may work your thighs. But what I think you’re really asking is how to lose weight on your upper thighs, which unfortunately isn’t possible because you can’t spot reduce fat! Good luck

Hey! Love the blog! I'm 16, 5'9 and CW is 153. I really only eat when I'm hungry and that gets me about 1500 calories a day. I have swim practice 5x a week. My goal is 140 or less. I struggle with self control when it comes to making healthy food decisions. Do you have any advice/tips that you see helpful for me?

If you really only eat when you’re hungry then that sounds like you’re doing it right to me! Find a healthy cookbook or magazine and start cooking good stuff which will make you less tempted to eat badly.

Does anyone else have any tips?

I'm 17, 4'11 and 90lbs. I've been trying to gain weight, more specially muscle mass, but I don't often go to the gym because I'm not all that sure what I should be doing there. Suggestions?

Lift heavy weights! Google “starting strength” which is a really good program. Do weighted squats and curls, find a boy to teach you proper form for the muscles you want to work on. I suggest first having a goal like: I want to gain 15 lbs of muscle mostly in my legs, butt, abs, and then working on those groups from there!

To the anon who said they only eat 1000 calories a day and then work out, multiple studies and resources show that your body needs 1200 net calories a day to function properly. That means if you know you'll be working off 400, you should eat 1600 calories that day in order to maintain a net of 1200. And don't worry, this won't make you fat! Your body needs that much to maintain itself. Just eat healthy for those calories =]

The fit test doesn’t work for some reason, but you can google “insanity fit test” and it will be written out for you in some of the links

Sorry about all these questions, I'm just curious about what you have done to get your body! So all the weight loss has been from exercising yourself at home and watching online videos at home and eating good? and how often do you exercise and how well do you eat? Do you ever binge on bad foods?

I haven’t lost that much weight, I’m just trying to be toned and fit which means putting on more muscle… Which means going to the gym more often. It’s hard and I don’t like it but it’s made me feel so much stronger! I eat pretty well (lots of veggies) but I also eat ice cream like every day haha. I did insanity for 3 weeks until I moved so its awkward to do it where I’m staying now… But I go to the gym 3-5x a week and do the elliptical for a full episode of law and order svu.

You’re welcome! I torrented it, which I can explain in more detail if you message me un-anon. I have a Mac so I downloaded vuze (google vuze) and then googled “insanity DVD torrent” and opened that

Hi, i was just wondering what do you suggest for me to do- I always give into bad foods when they are in front of me. I do eat quite healthy but I'm ruining all my good eating with all crap that I eat every few days. I don't exercise much because of lack of motivation & I haven't got enough money to go to gym which I would love to do. I have a problem with my ears that makes it horrible for me to go exercise outside in the winter. I feel like when I exercise inside I'm not doing enough. Thanks.x

Exercise more and stop eating bad foods, it’s unfortunately as simple as that. I don’t know what you want me to say! Try workout DVDs at home if you can’t go outside or to a gym. Find some internal motivation to get you going (rather than external like family pressures or a boy). Do it to be healthy and live long and look fucking awesome! Good luck!

I'm 14, 5'6" and i weigh 160lbs. i haven't got a big belly but i have huge thighs. how do i lose weight? especially for my thighs :L

Fat can’t be targeted unfortunately. To lose weight all you need to do is be dedicated and motivated, eat less and exercise way more. It will be hard and uncomfortable, and if you can’t do it that’s fine.. Good luck!

I'm 5'2 and weigh 180, but I'm trying to lose some serious pounds over the summer (my goal is to get to 120). I've already added an hour of cardio to my daily fitness and am on a 1000 calorie diet. Are there any more things I can add to melt some fat off?

Check out all the links on the left side of my page, there’s plenty of info there. But as a general rule you should NOT be eating only 1000 if you do an hour of cardio!! That’s like net 600 calories which is unhealthy.
